Bey underwent neck surgery earlier this week after getting stretchered away at a TNA Wrestling TV taping in Detroit, Michigan. The exact injury Bey sustained or the expected longevity of his absence from performing have not been publicly revealed yet.
Bey addressed supporters on Tuesday, providing an optimistic note as he starts to recover: “Monday was Day One for me on this journey, which I know will be long and challenging. Thanks again for the love and support, and please keep the prayers coming!”
While little has been revealed about his medical issues, the industry has banded together to support him.
A GoFundMe project launched earlier this week for Bey’s “recovery funds” has already attracted more than $75,000 in donations. Among contributors were AEW’s Adam Copeland and Chris Jericho, as well as former TNA President Scott D’Amore.
