For Benjamin, it’s about proving himself right.
Shelton Benjamin is heading into the ‘Fright Night’ edition of AEW Dynamite with intentions of hitting the 3-0 mark in the company. He’s picked up wins over Lio Rush, Sammy Guevara and next up is former AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland.
Busted Open welcomed Benjamin onto the show to promote his match. He stated that there’s a sense he’s doing some image rehabilitation and added that he’s not that same guy from WWE.
There’s a generation of wrestling fans out there who don’t view me in the light that I’d like to be viewed. Don’t view me in the light that I feel I earned and deserve. So there’s definitely a sense of image rehabilitation going on because I’m not that same guy from WWE. I’m not trying to be. While I cherish my time in WWE because it really changed my life for the better. I had more good memories than bad. But the bad memories that I have, I definitely want to make up for. Again, it’s not about proving myself to anybody as much as it is showing them what they’ve been missing this entire time.
Benjamin is going to be accompanied to the ring by MVP while Strickland will be joined by his manager, Prince Nana.
A review of Fright Night Dynamite will be live on the POST Wrestling YouTube channel after the show wraps.
