A successful surgery for Garza.

Angel Garza was most recently in action on the 10/18 Friday Night SmackDown in number one contender’s match for a shot at the WWE Tag Team Championships.

Via his Facebook page, Garza shared that he underwent surgery on his hand. He mentioned that in a match, he landed on his palms and heard a pop. He added that it felt like something exploded in his wrist.

When he went to physical therapy, the staff noticed that they could not help him do the stretches he needed to do for the muscles in his upper elbow because the aforementioned pop was limiting it. There was what is described as a ‘little ball’ on his wrist that is called a ganglion. A ganglion is a swelling, often on the back of the hand.

There were no alternative methods that could be used to solve the issue because it got fragmented into three different ganglions. They were surrounding the main arteries of the wrist, so surgery was the only option. If he did not get the surgery, there was a 70 percent chance that it would happen again.

Garza is sporting a cast and will have to rehab for two weeks. There will not be any physical activities involved because doctors informed him that if sweat gets into the cast, the surgically repaired area could get infected.

Angel is a member of Legado Del Fantasma with Santos Escobar, Humberto and Elektra Lopez.
