Former tag champs and defending World Tag League winners Bishamon have caught up to the A Block’s leaders following Night 7 of NJPW World Tag League action.

The team of Hirooki Goto & YOSHI-HASHI earned a victory over Ryohei Oiwa and Zack Sabre Jr. in a lengthy 23-minute battle on Wednesday night, giving them a big spotlight in the main event of a Sendai, Japan card and crucially moving them into first place with six points.

The result tied Bishamon up with United Empire’s Callum Newman and Jeff Cobb, who had already attained six points by Wednesday and entered the shoe as A Block’s top team. While a match against the newly-formed duo of Gabe Kidd and SANADA gave them a chance to further pull ahead of the pack, a victory by the Bullet Club duo caused a tie at the top of the block.

The Tag League, like all of NJPW’s smaller tournaments, has close standings. Four different teams trail the A Block leaders by just one win, including the duos of Shota Umino & Tomoaki Honma and Shingo Takagi & Yota Tsuji, who both held onto their current spot after coming up empty on Wednesday.

Tomorrow the focus will shift back to the B Block, which has a four-way tie at the top. Here’s a full look at the results from Wednesday’s show, plus an updated view of the tournament’s standings:
