We already knew the city, and now we have a venue to go with it.
NXT’s New Year’s Evil special – which will see the brand’s two top champions compete as part of a themed TV episode on The CW Network – has been announced for The Shrine Expo Hall in Los Angeles, California.
The Shrine, while likely best known for its 6,000-capacity theater which has hosted many music and entertainment award shows over the past few decades, also has a smaller expo hall which NXT plans to utilize. The venue will be one of the promotion’s smaller TV stops as of late, likely similar to what was seen when they visited the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania last month.
The upcoming event is expected to be NXT’s first trip to California in over a year. The Tuesday night brand last visited the state in September 2023 to host Premium Live Event (PLE) No Mercy. For the city of Los Angeles, it will be nearly two years without an NXT card once they touch down in January.
We already know that New Year’s Evil will have a pair of major matches. After winning Iron Survivor Challenge bouts at NXT Deadline last weekend, Oba Femi and Giulia will challenge the brand’s champs Trick Williams and Roxanne Perez respectively. On Tuesday, we saw the first face-to-face encounters between those talents since either matchup was confirmed.
A pre-sale for New Year’s Evil 2025 will begin on Tuesday, December 17, with a sale to the general public beginning the following day.
