Chris Jericho made a surprise appearance at GCW’s Highest in the Room 3 show on Saturday.

The AEW star appeared, hooded and masked, during Effy’s match with Matt Cardona.

Still disguised, he attacked Cardona with a baseball bat while the referee was recovering from a bump.

This allowed Effy to pick up the pinfall win. Jericho then unmasked and pulled off a hoodie to reveal an AEW T-shirt. As Effy looked confused, Jericho hit him with the Judas Effect and made to leave the ring.

He then re-entered and attacked both Effy and Cardona with the bat before finally leaving the arena.

Jericho is set to defend his Ring of Honor World Title against Cardona at ROH Final Battle next Friday.

Effy was a replacement in Saturday’s match with Cardona, who was originally billed to face Ricky Starks.

Starks, however, who is still under contract with AEW, had been pulled from the event.

This came against the background of recent comments by Effy on his podcast about AEW booking the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City just weeks before GCW’s January 19th show at the venue.
