Following Ring of Honor Final Battle at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York, there was a media scrum held that was hosted by AEW/ROH owner Tony Khan and commentator, Ian Riccaboni.

Below are highlights and notes from the noteworthy scrum sessions:

Tony Khan & Ian Riccaboni

  • Chris Jericho’s entrance music for the title defense against Matt Cardona was ‘New York, New York’ by Frank Sinatra. Khan thought it’d be special to use that song.
  • Speaking about Bandido’s return, Tony stated that it’s great to have him back. He mentioned that he wanted to sign Bandido when AEW first launched, but Bandido chose to remain with ROH. He added that Bandido and Chris Jericho crossed paths during Jericho’s first ROH World Title run.
  • Khan talked about it being the first Final Battle event in 19 years that one or both of The Briscoes (Jay Briscoe & Mark Briscoe) have not been on.

Lee Moriarty

  • Moriarty stated that it was a cool moment to share the ring with Nigel McGuinness in their Pure Championship match. He never expected that to be something that would come to fruition.

Athena

  • She is looking forward to Wrestle Dynasty at the Tokyo Dome. It’ll be her first match in Japan and added that she’ll likely hang around afterwards.
  • On the 12/26 edition of ROH on HonorClub, Athena stated that there will be an expulsion from M.I.T. (Minion in Training).
