Nunzio initially relayed to Mamaluke that there was interest in him competing.
In early November, WWE’s NXT brand ran one of their weekly shows on CW at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. There were a handful of ECW originals on the show.
Two of those names were the Full Blooded Italians (Nunzio & Tony Mamaluke). Nunzio challenged Tony D’Angelo for the North American Championship. Mamaluke accompanied his partner to the ring as his manager for the night.
Mamaluke and Nunzio reflected on the experience while participating in a virtual signing for Captain’s Corner. Mamaluke shared that Nunzio initially relayed to him that NXT was interested in having him wrestle. Tony brought his ring gear to the venue.
Mamaluke: I was at work and (Little) Guido called me and said, ‘They’re gonna call you from Stamford, Connecticut’ and I said, ‘Well, I don’t owe them any money and I don’t need the drug program. What do they want?’ He said, ‘They’re gonna put us on NXT in a couple of weeks.’ I said, ‘NXT? National television?’ ‘Yeah. They want you to wrestle.’ I didn’t wrestle in seven years.
Nunzio: You went and trained and you wore a suit.
Mamaluke: Well, I did bring my gear. So it just was all because they were going to the ECW Arena. They wanted to bring in some of the big stars. Since they couldn’t show up, they decided to call me (he laughed).
Nunzio: Give yourself more credit.
Mamaluke: They did call twice. So I guess they really wanted us. No, it was a great time. We got to meet some really great, young talent. The Family was great too. I keep using that word ‘great’ but everything was such an amazing day… By the way, Shawn Michaels, for anyone that’s wondering, he’s doing great (he laughed).
Nunzio remains active in the ring on a consistent basis. The 52-year-old wrestled twice for Game Changer Wrestling in late November. Mamaluke has not wrestled since 2018.
