Bad Bunny’s music career only continues to explode, yet he still has the itch to step inside the squared circle.
The Puerto Rican recording artist has proven over the years that he’s willing to put his body on the line to perform as a wrestler. After appearing in a tag match at WrestleMania 37 and participating in the 2022 Royal Rumble, he went one step even further in 2023, going 25 minutes in a singles match against Damian Priest at Backlash 2023.
Now nearly two years removed from his last in-ring appearance, it’s worth wondering whether Bad Bunny still has hopes to wrestle again. When that question was posed to him, he gave an enthusiastic yes.
“I want to do it one more time,” he said. “I want to put my life at risk in the ring. I felt like I didn’t risk it enough in the ring, and I want to do it. I want to scare my mother. When? I don’t know. We stay in contact with the people at WWE, we’re always paying attention to what’s going on. But when, I don’t know. I hope there’s a time where I can really get ready, like I did the last few times. And I’d love to take more time to get ready physically.
But man, just like in music, I do this to get better and to do something different. Sometimes, I say, “I’m going to quit everything and just do wrestling full time.” I feel like in wrestling, I just go sporadically as a celebrity. I’m going to go full time and be a heel. That’s what I’d love. [Laughs.] I was always a fan of the villains more than the good guys.”
Bad Bunny already has a quite busy life as a mainstream celebrity. Last week he released “Debí tirar más fotos,” his sixth studio album since 2018. He’ll soon also be on the press tour for Happy Gilmore 2, playing the supporting role of caddy to Adam Sandler’s famous character.
Bad Bunny spoke about the latest album and the future on-screen appearance in the Rolling Stone interview as well. You can read the full piece here.
