Renee Paquette does a lot for AEW, but currently, she isn’t in a commentary booth.
Paquette is one of the most prominent on-screen presenters in the promotion, working as a backstage interviewer, a pre-show anchor, and a host to many of the promotion’s web programs. But not part of her activities is a spot on commentary.
Paquette is no stranger to calling wrestling matches, with a decent chunk of her eight-year WWE run including time as part of the broadcast booths for shows like Raw and NXT. Her past experience as a commentator might cause you to wonder: Is that something she’s still interested in doing?
The question was posed to Paquette this week as part of an interview with Cincy360. While she noted that interest in calling the action does surface every once in a while, she’s also quite satisfied with her current roles in AEW.
“Sometimes I think about it,” Paquette said in an interview with Tony Pike this week. “There’s aspects of it that I miss, and obviously this is a far different circumstance with AEW versus what I had done previously. So I think about it sometimes. I love getting to do the interviews. I love getting to do some more of the long-form interviews or some of those really exclusive sit-down things. I love getting to do those. But yeah, every now and then when I’m listening [to the broadcast], I get a little bit of the itch. A little bit. So we’ll see.”
Along with her work on AEW’s TV program, Paquette is the host of the web series AEW Close Up. On the show, she presents in-depth chats with many of the promotion’s top names. Last week, she sat down with Kris Statlander for a 15-minute discussion.
