The match will be Takeshita’s second time defending his NJPW belt since claiming it at Wrestle Kingdom with a 12-minute win over Shingo Takagi. He previously appeared on NJPW’s New Beginning in Osaka card on February 11 to retain the title in a match against Boltin Oleg.
De Oro is a current CMLL World Tag Team Champion alongside Niebla Roja and has wrestled for the promotion since 2008. He has participated in NJPW matches many times before, previously going to Japan as part of the cross-promotional Fantastica Mania tour. A victory this weekend would earn him a title outside of Mexico’s scene for the first time in his career.
Earlier in the night, Rocky Romero will make his return to CMLL as part of a six-man tag team match. Romero’s last appearance in the promotion was a title fight against Flip Gordon in mid-December.
