WRESTLING NEWS
**Tonight’s episode of Raw takes place from the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey for the ‘go home’ edition heading into Extreme Rules this Sunday. There was a lot of positive buzz after last Monday’s show and it will be interesting to see if there was strong word-of-mouth after the show that leads to an increase in viewership. There have been several match announcements for the show tonight:
*Seth Rollins & Becky Lynch vs. Andrade & Zelina Vega
*Shane McMahon & Drew McIntyre vs. Roman Reigns & Mystery Partner
*An appearance by Rey Mysterio
**Mike Johnson at PWinsider.com reported on Monday that Johnny Impact (John Hennigan) was set to finish up with Impact at Sunday’s Slammiversary event. Johnson reported that his contract expired several weeks ago but the sides agreed to work through the pay-per-view and ended with Swann pinning Impact. The report added that the two sides were still talking about the possibility of continuing to work together. He has been wrestling for Impact for the past two years and held the Impact title from October 2018 until this past April when he was defeated by Brian Cage.
**On Monday’s episode of Being the Elite, they added a tag match to this Saturday’s Fight for the Fallen card in Jacksonville, Florida. Pentagon Jr. & Rey Fenix will take on Frankie Kazarian & Scorpio Sky with Christopher Daniels in their corner. There was a comedy bit at the start with The Young Bucks writing down notes, which included the date ‘October 2’ and Matt Jackson crossing off ‘Good Brothers’ in reference to Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows re-signing with WWE.
**Chris Jericho posted a message after learning of Paco Alonso’s passing. Jericho credited the promoter for giving him his break in Mexico and coming up with the name Corazon de Leon that Jericho competed under and was elevated to the main event in CMLL in 1993. Jericho first went to Mexico and worked for promoter Carlos Elizondo as Leon d’Oro. In his book, “A Lion’s Tale”, he said that 22-years of age he was making between $3-4,000 per week and was put up in the Plaza Madrid hotel during his time there.
**Impact Wrestling announced that Bound for Glory will take place from Chicago, Illinois on Sunday, October 20th. The venue was not announced by the promotion, but Mike Johnson at PWinsider.com reports it will be at The Odeum in Villa Park, Illinois.
**MLW issued a press release promoting their Saturday Night SuperFight pay-per-view that is scheduled for Saturday, November 2nd from Cicero Stadium in Chicago. In the release, they announced that the show will be carried by InDemand, DirecTV, DISH, and Vubiquity and will stream at Fite.tv. They are promoting a price of $19.95 and a run time of two-hours and fifty-minutes. The pay-per-view will go head-to-head with the UFC 244 event that night from Madison Square Garden, which was officially announced by the promotion this past Saturday, although no fights have been confirmed.
**The Chicago-area is going to see a huge schedule of shows during the fall. AEW is returning to the market for All Out on August 31st, Impact Wrestling is running Bound for Glory on October 20th, MLW’s pay-per-view is November 2nd, and the WWE will be running the Allstate Arena on four straight nights over Survivor Series weekend from November 22nd until November 25th.
**Ring of Honor’s next major event is the Manhattan Mayhem card on Saturday, July 20th from the Hammerstein Ballroom. Over the weekend, they added a match between Jonathan Gresham and Dragon Lee to the event along with an eight-man tag with Marty Scurll, PCO, Brody King & Flip Gordon taking on Bandido, Tracy Williams, Mark Haskins, and PJ Black. Manhattan Mayhem will be headlined by Matt Taven defending the ROH championship against former champion Jay Lethal and the Guerrillas of Destiny defending the ROH tag titles against The Briscoes in a Street Fight.

MMA NEWS
**An injury to UFC lightweight Beneil Dariush has taken the fighter off this Saturday’s card in Sacramento, California. Dariush was set to fight Drakkar Klose on the show and UFC officials are seeking a replacement to fight Klose. MMA Junkie was the first to report the news of Dariush’s withdrawal from the card.
**Veteran MMA reporter Luke Thomas has signed with Showtime and will be doing several shows on the Below the Belt network. Thomas put out a show this morning that will come out Mondays with Brian Campbell of CBS Sports where they discuss the MMA news from that weekend called Morning Kombat along with a fight analysis show called Morning Kombat Dissected. Thomas recently announced he would be stepping away from his hosting duties at SB Nation for The MMA Hour and The MMA Beat with both shows appearing to have ceased operation. **After a week off due to International Fight Week, Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series returns Tuesday on Fight Pass from the UFC Apex. Below are the five scheduled fights beginning at 8 pm Eastern:

Pearce exchanged words with another member of the gym, who had anger issues, and struck Pearce from behind with a hook and then kicked him in the face. The story is harrowing to read and then see that Pearce not only survived but continued his fighting career and is now 8-3 and competing on DWTNCS on Tuesday night.
