NJPW releases brackets for the New Japan Cup

New Japan Pro Wrestling has released the brackets for the upcoming New Japan Cup, which begins on March 4th and runs until March 21st.

New Japan Pro Wrestling has released the brackets for the upcoming New Japan Cup, which begins on March 4th and runs until March 21st.

Below are the first-round matches of the 32-man tournament that are spread out over the first four shows:

March 4th at Korakuen Hall:
*Jeff Cobb vs. Togi Makabe
*Tomohiro Ishii vs. Toa Henare
*Toru Yano vs. Chase Owens
*Bad Luck Fale vs. Colt Cabana

March 7th in Aichi:
*Kazuchika Okada vs. Jay White
*Minoru Suzuki vs. Yuji Nagata
*Juice Robinson vs. Alex Coughlin
*Tanga Loa vs. David Finlay

March 8th in Hyogo:
*Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Taichi
*Kota Ibushi vs. Zack Sabre Jr.
*Sanada vs. Mikey Nicholls
*Will Ospreay vs. Shingo Takagi

March 9th in Kochi:
*Hiroyoshi Tenzan vs. Yoshi-Hashi
*KENTA vs. Karl Fredericks
*Satoshi Kojima vs. EVIL
*Hirooki Goto vs. Yujiro

The second round matches will take place on March 10th in Okayama, March 12th & 13th at Korakuen Hall, and March 14th in Chiba. The third-round matches are set for March 16th in Toyama, March 17th in Saitama, and March 18th in Shizuoka.

The semi-finals and finals are March 20th and 21st in Niigata. The winner is expected to receive a title match at Sakura Genesis on March 31st at Sumo Hall.
