It was first reported by Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp that former WWE Cruiserweight Champion Drew Gulak worked the SmackDown TV tapings on May 25th. It’s noted in the article that Gulak appeared in the ring with over a dozen wrestlers and his absence was not mentioned over the house microphones.
PWInsider followed up on the story and independently confirmed that just a week-and-a-half after Gulak let his contract with WWE expire, he signed a new deal with the company. Gulak has been moved back to the active roster section of WWE’s official website. Gulak was last featured on WWE programming in the first round of the Intercontinental Championship tournament in-which he fell in defeat to Daniel Bryan. Just one day after that match, it was confirmed by PWInsider that Gulak allowed his contract with WWE to expire although WWE never publicly announced Gulak’s departure.
Over the past several months, Gulak has been paired with Daniel Bryan on TV and the two competed against one another which led to them teaming up on TV and creating a series of videos that they put up on social media to promote their new team.
Drew Gulak has been a part of the WWE for four years and throughout those four years, he has been Cruiserweight Champion, competed on RAW, SmackDown, 205 Live and NXT.
