The Memorial Day episode of WWE Raw was nearly identical to the week prior with a 1% drop in viewership and the same level in the main demographic.
Monday’s three-hour show averaged 1,735,000 viewers and 0.51 in the 18-49 demographic. The first hour was the highest among all cable programming Monday with hour three ranked 3rd and hour two ranked 4th. Last week’s average was 1,757,000.
It was Raw’s second-lowest number is modern history only trailing the May 4th episode that averaged 1,686,000 viewers.
The show opened with 1,806,000 viewers making it one of the lowest opening hours in Raw history behind the first hour of the taped show on Christmas Eve 2018. In hour two, it fell 4% to 1,726,000 and declined another 3% with the final hour averaging 1,673,000.
This was the first episode where WWE utilized in-house performers and trainees to serve as crowd members behind plexiglass to create noise and an atmosphere.
Going in, they advertised Andrade vs. Apollo Crews for the United States title, a #1 contender’s match for the Raw women’s title, and Drew McIntyre appearing on the VIP Lounge. The show featured The Street Profits facing Bobby Lashley & MVP in the main event, which was set up during the episode.
Among the key demos, the only notable decline was with females 12-34 that fell 10.5%. There was a 5% increase among males 12-34 and everything else saw minimal fluctuation from last week.
From hour on to hour three, the largest loss was among females 18-49 which dropped 17% followed by males 12-34 tuning in by 13.5% and adults 18-34 dropping 13% from the first to the final hour. Females 12-34 may have been down from last week, but from hours one to three, it increased by 6%.
Last year’s Memorial Day episode averaged 2,190,000 and went against an NHL playoff game that did 5.3 million viewers.
Next week’s episode of Raw is advertising Charlotte Flair vs. Asuka and Apollo Crews vs. TBA for the United States title.
