AJPW’s ‘Champion Carnival’ tournament to take place in September

All Japan Pro Wrestling President Takenori Fukuda announced that the 2020 'Champion Carnival' tournament will take place in September.

All Japan Pro Wrestling’s annual Champion Carnival tournament was scheduled to begin on April 6th at Korakuen Hall and end on May 5th at that same venue. The Coronavirus outbreak put the tournament on hold and it was announced in early April that it would not be taking place at all.

All Japan President Takenori Fukuda met with the President of ‘Kabel Interview’ today and during that meeting, it was announced that the 2020 Champion Carnival tournament will take place in September. Also, the Carbell Foundation has agreed to a two-year sponsorship deal with All Japan. More information about the meeting and the sponsorship deal can be read at this link.

President Fukuda is expecting the tournament to only feature Japan-based talents since there is no way of knowing if travel restrictions will be lifted by September. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, the following names were scheduled for the Champion Carnival tournament:

*Kento Miyahara
*Davey Boy Smith Jr.
*Jake Lee
