Orlando news outlet WFTV published a story which reads that the Orange County Department of Health is asking the Strike Team to look into businesses in the area that could potentially be spreading COVID-19. It’s noted in the article that the agency feels that bars are the biggest issue as of now.
Eight bars in Florida are being looked into as well as businesses. Listed under the business label is: WWE Full Sail, WWE Performance Center and the Amway Center which WWE is referring to as the ThunderDome where RAW and SmackDown are emanating from.
In a statement on the matter, WWE responded with the following:
WWE is not open to the public, but rather operating on a closed set with only essential personnel in attendance. As part of on-going weekly testing protocols, Aventus Labs have administered more than 10,000 PCR tests to WWE performers, employees, production staff and crew resulting in only 1.5 percent positive cases as compared to the current national average of more than 5%. Additionally, extensive contact tracing takes place and impacted individuals are placed in 14-day quarantine and then only cleared after they test negative.
Gilt nightclub is also being looked into and that’s a venue that Major League Wrestling has frequently ran in when they’re in the Florida area. The organization is preparing for their restart after not running since March.
