AEW Dynamite notes: Brandi Rhodes throws water on Shaq, Sting-Cody

Brandi Rhodes and Shaq had a sit-down conversation, Sting joins Cody in the ring, matches set up for next week and much more.

Promoted for the 12/9 edition of AEW Dynamite were appearances from both Sting and Shaquille O’Neal. Shaq was a part of a sit-down conversation segment with Brandi Rhodes that was hosted by Tony Schiavone. Shaq mentioned that he has made remarks in the past about Cody Rhodes but it was all in good fun. As Brandi was walking off, Shaq mentioned that while Brandi’s arm is in a sling, she should take some pointers from Jade Cargill who “broke” Brandi’s arm. Rhodes proceeded to throw water on Shaq.

Sting appeared and joined Cody Rhodes, Arn Anderson and Tony Schiavone in the ring. Sting praised Schiavone for helping play a role in presenting him as a big deal throughout his career and he hugged it out with Schiavone. In the rafters watching the segment was TNT Champion Darby Allin.

Dustin Rhodes was in action on the show and he took on Dark Order’s 10 (Preston Vance). During the match, Aaron Solow who was in the crowd for the show, attempted to distract 10 but was shoved down. After their match, Evil Uno offered Rhodes a spot in Dark Order but Rhodes declined.

After several weeks of back and forth within the group upon MJF and Wardlow’s arrival, The Inner Circle met to decide what their next steps are going forward. They came to the conclusion that they are staying together. MJF also defeated Orange Cassidy in the main event to win the Dynamite Diamond Ring for the second consecutive year. A brawl broke out at the end of the show which led to Tony Khan making the following match official: The Inner Circle (MJF, Wardlow, Chris Jericho, Sammy Guevara, Ortiz & Santana) vs. Brandon Cutler, Varsity Blonds (Griff Garrison & Brian Pillman Jr.), Top Flight (Darius & Dante Martin) and Best Friends (Chuck Taylor & Trent).

Several more matches for were made official for next week as well. Hangman Page is teaming with John Silver and Alex Reynolds of Dark Order to face Matt Hardy and Private Party (Isiah Kassidy & Marq Quen). Cody Rhodes will be in action when he takes on Angelico, The Acclaimed (Anthony Bowens & Max Caster) are taking on Frankie Kazarian and Christopher Daniels along with Serena Deeb and Big Swole versus Ivelisse and Diamante.
