Night one of New Japan Pro-Wrestling’s biggest show of their calendar year in Wrestle Kingdom kicked off on 1/4. The first match on the main card saw 2020 Super J-Cup winner El Phantasmo take on Hiromu Takahashi. The winner of the match would secure their spot at night two of Wrestle Kingdom 15 in a match against Taiji Ishimori for the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship.

It was Hiromu emerging victorious with the win and now he’ll be facing Taiji Ishimori on 1/5. Ishimori and Takahashi met over the summer at NJPW’s Summer Struggle show at Jingu Stadium where Ishimori won the Junior Heavyweight Title from Hiromu.
