Over the past week, several Ring of Honor talents (Mark Haskins, Bandido, Brian Johnson & Amy Rose) have re-signed with the company and the latest to do so is former Women of Honor World Champion Sumie Sakai. Sumie’s last match for Ring of Honor took place at the Gateway to Honor show in February of 2020.
She has been a part of ROH at various points, dating back to the early 2000s. In 2018, she partook in the tournament to crown the first-ever Women of Honor World Champion and she defeated Hana Kimura, Kagetsu, Tenille Dashwood and Kelly Klein along the way to become champion.

Sakai has been in the wrestling business since the late 90s and this year she turns 50 years old.
Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, Ring of Honor planned to run a tournament to crown a new ROH Women’s World Champion. The title was vacated after Ring of Honor’s fallout with then-champion Kelly Klein which can be read about at this link.
