A multi-million dollar personal injury suit has been filed against UFC star Conor McGregor.
The Independent.ie was the first to report that a pair of claims have been filed against McGregor in the High Court of Dublin, Ireland.
McGregor is listed as a co-defendant in the first claim along with an associate, which was filed by a woman over alleged actions occurring in December 2018. A second claim has been filed by the woman’s mother with both seeking a trial.
The charges were previously investigated by the National Police Service in the Republic of Ireland with no charges brought against McGregor following its investigation.
The New York Times has further details on the allegations after obtaining a statement of claim filed by the unnamed woman in the case. (A warning that the allegations in the piece contain graphic descriptions of sexual violence). The NY Times adds that the suit is seeking a sum of approximately $1.79 to $2.13 million (U.S).
McGregor is denying any wrongdoing with his spokesperson Karen Kessler releasing the following statement:
After an exhaustive investigation conducted by the Gardaí which, in addition to interviews of the plaintiff, included interviewing numerous sources, obtaining witnesses’ statements, examining closed circuit footage and the cooperation of Conor McGregor, these allegations were categorically rejected. The plaintiff knows the facts contradict the assertions in this lawsuit. Mr McGregor will dispute any claims and is confident that justice will prevail.
McGregor, 32, is set to return this Saturday at UFC 257 against Dustin Poirier in his first fight since January 2020.
