Wednesday night’s cable ratings saw a resurgence for NXT while AEW Dynamite experienced a sizable drop.

AEW Dynamite averaged 734,000 viewers and a 0.29 in the 18-49 finishing sixth for the night on cable. Its viewership fell 14 percent this week while the demo figure was down 19.4 percent. Last week’s show did 854,000 viewers and a 0.36.

If you exclude the January 6th show, which was an outlier due to the heavy news coverage after the attack on the U.S. Capitol, it was AEW’s lowest viewership average since November 25th (Thanksgiving Eve) and their lowest demo figure on a Wednesday night since July 8th.

AEW was affected by its female audience as the 12-34 rating was down 46 percent to a 0.07 and women 18-49 dropped 17 percent, which was a demo where NXT edged AEW in.

Dynamite was also hurt with its adults 18-34 audience dropping by 26 percent and men 25-54 down by 25 percent. The audience they retained best was its over 50 audience only dropping by 3.5 percent.

NXT rebounded in a big way returning to the top fifty cable programs in the #24 slot with a 0.21 in the 18-49 demo with 720,000 viewers on the USA Network.

The spark in interest saw viewers increase by 9 percent and their demo rating was up 40 percent from last week’s 0.15.

This was NXT’s best viewership average since December 16th and its best demo rating since the Halloween Havoc episode on October 25th last year.

NXT topped AEW with females 18-49, females 12-34, and as usual, in adults over 50.

Both shows went against the NBA game between the L.A. Lakers and Philadelphia 76ers, which topped the cable charts with 1,775,000 viewers and a 0.65 demo figure on ESPN. The Challenge: Double Agents ranked second with 987,000 viewers and a 0.58 demo number on MTV.

Here is a breakdown of the demos. Because NXT didn’t finish among the top fifty programs last week, we don’t have comparisons to their ratings from last week.
