** Charlotte Flair was a part of Topps’ WinterCon and during the Q&A portion of her appearance, she was asked who she considers to be the GOAT of the women’s division. Charlotte feels that title currently belongs to Sasha Banks.

I don’t know. Who is my GOAT for the women’s division? Well I would say each year, can they have a new GOAT? Right now, Sasha [Banks] has been the GOAT currently right now. From appearance to character work to matches, she’s absolutely killing it.

Flair talked about her partnership with Asuka. She said she wanted to team with Asuka years ago and added that there’s no one she respects more.

I definitely feel like I’m a singles performer. But if there’s anybody I could’ve tagged with prior to Becky [Lynch] and I’s rivalry two years ago, because we always wanted to be in a tag team, I would say Asuka just because there’s no one I respect more than her so if I’m not gonna go against her, I wanna be with her, and I found that we had incredible chemistry actually as partners the first few weeks. I remember we did commentary one of the first nights back and I was like, ‘Oh wow, we really –’ I mean anyone can work with Asuka, she’s that incredible but it was a natural flow with her so it’s been great to be beside her.

When asked for her favorite title reign of her career, she brought up her Divas Championship run being the most important and explained why:

Probably my Divas Championship run until WrestleMania 32, because of the breakout moment, beating Nikki Bella, holding the title going into the new era. I think that was probably my longest and my most important.

** Melina was a guest on Vickie Guerrero’s podcast and shared the news that she needs ACL surgery. The conversation came about when Melina was asked if she wants another on-screen run in a wrestling company. Melina did suffer an ACL tear a decade ago.

Of course I want to [do another run]. The sad part is I was told that I have — well basically, my ACL is hanging by a thread I think. I need to call the doctor and have them explain it to me, but that’s what was explained to them. They’re like, ‘No, her ACL is shot.’ I’m like, ‘Oh my goodness, I’ve been working on this knee and I didn’t even know this.’ So I need surgery and the thing is I don’t when I’m gonna get surgery, when I’m able to do that and by the time I do that and I heal, will I still be able to come back? Will my body still hold up? Will I still look the part and what sucks is people still — they don’t care — they’re judgmental when it comes to how a woman looks and it’s like ah, men get older, they could be in their 50s and 60s and still wrestle but if you’re a woman, it’s like, ‘Oh no’ and then you hear people cut promos on how — this is another thing that I think is funny too; you hear the young generation calling out people, ‘Oh, they’re old, they’re this, oh, you just wanna relive your glory days’ and I think, ‘Are you serious?’ I think about the things I said, even if it’s just in-character when I was Melina back in the day and I think, ‘How did no veteran step up and cut a greenhorn down?’ You know what I mean? And the reality of life and in general is that when you’re young, you have all the confidence, no fear, all this stuff. You do and that’s a plus but when you’re older, you’re wiser, smarter and have experience. So in reality, a veteran could kick your ass. That’s the reality.

If she were to have a retirement match, Melina said that she would want it to be against Mickie James because it would be the perfect bookend to her career.

It’s crazy because it’s a hard thing to choose. It all depends on the moment and whatnot. I always say… I always thought that if I were to have a retirement match, I would want it to be against Mickie [James] because it’s a bookend to my career, you know? And my first real storyline, when it comes to OVW, when it comes to winning the championship for the first time, it all began with Mickie and to have that as a bookend would be beautiful, beautiful. But I know people are like, ‘No! I wanna hear one of the newbies –’ not the newbies. They’re new to me but established to them and I get a lot for Sasha [Banks] and Naomi. I’d like to go against Charlotte [Flair], Asuka, and it’s like yes, I don’t know because I could see my character working with anybody and having an incredible match with any of them because they’re just unique and they’re so filled with passion and athleticism that I’m like, ‘Oh, I could see anything.’

** The ‘Telegraph Herald’ caught up with Goldberg for an interview. The former WWE Universal Champion stated that he’d love to finish out his wrestling career with WWE.

Elsewhere during the conversation, Goldberg spoke about performing in front of a virtual crowd. He said it’s very difficult but he just focuses in on who he’s in the ring with.

It’s very difficult, but character-wise, I’m just focused in on who I’m wrestling. (Hulk) Hogan taught me years and years ago that facial expressions and looking to the crowd is as just as important, if not more important, than the actual match itself. When you take that out of it, for a guy such as myself who does limited things in the ring, it kind of makes it more difficult. But I go out and do my thing, do what’s asked of me, and I’m honored and privileged to still be a part of it and represent WWE.

** WKYC profiled the Rhodes Wrestling Academy which is ran by Dustin Rhodes. It’s noted in the article that Dustin will host a showcase of his students on March 20th on YouTube. The publication also had the chance to chat with Dustin and he feels that Dusty Rhodes had more charisma than he and Cody could ever have on-screen.

Pops was one of a kind. He didn’t have the muscle body, he barely went to the gym, if ever. But he had more charisma in his little finger than I or [my brother] Cody Rhodes will ever amount to having. He could talk his [butt] off and he can make people come to the building and he could relate. He wasn’t some rich snooty person. He was blue-collar, talking to the people, not at them. And these people respected that.

** All Elite Wrestling is partnering with Cinemark Theatres so that the March 7th Revolution pay-per-view can be watched in select theaters.

** On February 25th, Joey Styles applied to trademark his name.

** Lance Archer joined the Sunday Night’s Main Event podcast and during the discussion, he shared that he was initially approached about an opportunity with AEW on a part-time basis which eventually turned into a full-time deal.

It was one of those things, it was kind of a perfect storm of moments. Initially, an idea was brought to me about a part-time situation with AEW but then it quickly turned into a, ‘Hey, we just want you here full-time man’ and then as the business goes, a little negotiation back and forth but then ultimately decided that AEW was the place to be for me and the business and everything moving forward and I believe I made the absolute right, best decision.

Back in September of 2020, Archer revealed that he tested positive for Coronavirus. He talked about his experience dealing with the virus.

I have a very different opinion on it in comparison. For me, it was like an annoying head cold so other than that, I’ve been great. Honestly, I didn’t even believe I had it until I lost smell and then I was like, ‘Oh, I guess I do’ and I never had any kind of major cough, I never had any severe fever, I never had any issues. I stayed home and did my due diligence but I stayed home, I trained, I worked out and did cardio and I have a small gym here. It never really slowed me down other than not being able to smell my food for a week-and-a-half.

** Kofi Kingston did an interview with NBC10 Boston. Among the many topics and points touched on during the conversation, Kofi opened up about the diversity within WWE’s talent roster at the moment. He feels that right now, it’s the most diverse it has ever been.

You know, particularly in the last decade, representation has increased tenfold. You talk about the women’s movement, I think The Bellas were the ones who really kick-started it off when Nikki Bella had tweeted something out like ‘Give Divas A Chance’ and it was just a situation where on television you would see a lot of short matches for the girls. A lot of times on live TV, the nature of it is that a match you might have 15 minutes for, all of a sudden you have seven minutes for because you have to be out by a certain time, otherwise you’re rolling into the territory of a different show so we have to be off at a certain time and what it seemed like what was happening was that a lot of times, the girls were the ones who were getting their time cut, so now you’re expected to go out and have, you know, and show your talent but then you only had about two minutes to do it and I think we’ve done a lot, a much better job of being able to give the women time to be able to go out there and tell that story. Over the past five years, you had the first-ever female, all-female Royal Rumble, all women’s pay-per-view, every match from top to bottom was all women. The first-ever Money In The Bank Ladder match which is match where you have several different contenders compete to get a briefcase that is suspended from the top of the arena, [you climb] the ladder and grab it, whoever grabs it then has a contract to challenge for the WWE Title or any title of their choosing at any given time.

It’s commonplace now, but there was a time when you never had that before so that’s all happened in the past decade, the past five years and then even with talent from all over the world right now, our roster is so incredibly diverse. I mean, you look at it, you see a lot of African-American talent, you see a lot of talent from Japan, you see people from Mexico, you see people from Canada, you know what I’m saying? You see people from India, you see people from all over the world and that is really what WWE should be because we influence everybody. Like I’ve had the luxury of traveling all over the world and seeing the impact that WWE has in so many different nations across the world. So, why wouldn’t we have representation? It just makes sense so, I’m proud of the diversity we have on the roster right now. Right now, it’s probably the most diverse that it has ever been and it keeps on getting more and more diverse and really that’s what it’s all about when you think about, again, the amount of countries and the amount of people that we touch with this amazing product.

** Brian Cage is teaming with Ricky Starks to face Sting and Darby Allin at AEW’s Revolution pay-per-view. Several weeks ago on Dynamite, Cage gave a powerbomb to Sting. He talked to Muscle & Fitness about giving to the move to the 61-year-old Sting while being aware of his severe spinal injury from 2015.

When they asked me about doing it, I thought it was cool, but I didn’t really think about it until afterwards, so it was like, ‘How cool is that? I just powerbombed Sting.’ But yeah, here’s a guy that is not only a legend in the business, but was the first action figure I owned, too. He’s 61 and he hasn’t taken a bump for six years, he’s had his injuries and his problems. I was very appreciative that he trusted me to do that. I could have delivered it as the most perfect, safe powerbomb of all time, but even then, something [bad] could have happened if you have a [health] issue. That’s kinda like what happened with Seth Rollins. I don’t think, really, Seth did anything wrong. I feel like it was just one of those things where we call it a ‘bump card’ in wrestling, where it’s just kind of a freak accident. Sting was a trooper. I’m glad that I didn’t think about it too much until afterward.

** Prior to his WWE Championship match on Raw, Bobby Lashley was interviewed by CBS Sports. He spoke about the high and low points of his return to WWE and feels that things began to make a turn when he stopped caring about “every little thing”.

I think at the beginning when I came back, there were a lot of things I had to go through. There was that time when people would have broken and walked off and b*tched and complained. But I stood in there. Once you had those ups and downs — and I had a real low down for a point in my career — you know you’re going to bounce back. The confidence part is that I don’t care. I stopped caring. A lot of times people care about every little thing. They sit there and read Twitter and want to fight everybody on Twitter and fight people who put negative comments under their stuff, and they always want to battle these battles that they don’t need to. For me, I don’t fight them. I don’t care.

How I look at it is if I do something that is totally embarrassing on TV and people are joking and laughing, I’m going to joke and laugh too. There’s things I’ve done on TV where I sit back, and if people are clowning me because of it, I would clown me too. That’s what it is. I don’t care. It’s entertainment. If you can’t have fun with this, you’re in the wrong business. If you can’t not take yourself seriously? You’re in the wrong business. I don’t care about anything right now. I’m in a good point in my life where I am happy, I am healthy and I’m going to have a big smile on my face and keep moving forward.

** AAW is running a show on April 3rd in Villa Park, Illinois. This will be the promotion’s first since November of 2020.

** Charlotte Flair and MyVerse were guests on the Swerve City Podcast. The topic of intergender wrestling came up and Flair touched on the in-ring performances Reginald has had with Nia Jax and Sasha Banks. While Flair thinks the performances were great, she doesn’t think it should be should be a common occurrence.

I feel the same with the women and we finally are there. It’s no longer like, ‘The Divas and the male superstars.’ We’re all just superstars. I don’t necessarily want or think that the women need to compete against the men but I do think in certain situations like with Reginald, did I say his name correctly? What he is doing with Sasha [Banks] is phenomenal but I don’t think that needs to be a common thing. Like it works with them and their storyline and him being Mella’s manager but to have intergender — it’s almost like how you [MyVerse, BattleRap artist] were saying when someone puts down your family or they use cheap pops in battling, sometimes I feel like for a woman to hit a man or a man to hit a woman, it’s not as creative as two women having to tell this story versus, like, ‘Oh my God, she just slapped him.’ It’s an easy thing but I think what we’re fighting for is like you said, there was only one woman in the category for MC Of The Year, it’s the same. I think overall, the women can’t just settle with there’s one women’s match on the card on an entire show. There needs to be multiple stories going at one time and whoever is the main event, deserves the main event because of their story, not because they’re male or female.

** Shaquille O’Neal is teaming with Jade Cargill to take on Cody Rhodes and Red Velvet on the 3/3 edition of AEW Dynamite. Shaq told the Associated Press that back in 2016 when he shared the ring with Paul Wight (The Big Show) at WrestleMania, he wanted to wrestle him.

On the topic of his AEW in-ring debut, he talked about how he plans to use the power game on Cody in their mixed tag team match.

I’m the type, I can never back down from a challenge. I’m not a professional wrestler, but I’ve been in a match before. I’ve got a lot of moves in my arsenal. When you step inside somebody’s world, you have to stick to what you’re masterful at. I’m not acrobatic. I’m not going to be jumping off the ropes. I’m coming with the power game. When I get hands on him, I’m going to display this power.

** Proresu Today released their interview with Hikaru Shida and she reflected on her time as AEW Women’s World Champion thus far:

Well, it’s really hard (bitter smile). However, there may be many people who become champions at this time and say, ‘I’m sorry’ or ‘I’m unlucky,’ but I’m really grateful. I’m really glad I became a champion because of this time. After all, I was thinking about what I could do as a champion, and I was able to create a tournament. This simultaneous holding in Japan and the United States was possible only during the Corona period, and as a result, what I had done independently in Japan was entrusted with the management of Japan, and I made various arrangements, because it led to — I really became a champion at this time, and of course I had a lot of trouble, but I think that by doing that, I became very strong as a person. I think that the belt has helped me grow a lot in this situation.

** Anthony Carelli (Santino Marella) guest appeared on “Da” Podcast. Carelli has not consistently wrestled since 2019 and he’s not interested in coming back to the ring due to lower back issues. He stated that he has a herniated disc which causes him pain in his everyday life.

I have no itch to come back. I probably could come back for a match or two here and there. My thing now is my lower back. My lower back, I have a herniated disc and I put some stem cells in it and you know, I have to do so much maintenance just to have a pain-free day. Stretching, inversion. Now that stuff’s opening back up, I’m going back to yoga, I have to follow an anti-inflammatory diet. I have to modify my workouts to not have a lot of load bearing on my lower back and that’s just to break even, you know? There’s just things like yesterday, I had to lift up a generator and [it’s] a couple hundred pounds and I felt that. Next day, shoveling the driveway, you gotta be careful with your technique. I’m just — I have to do so much just to have a regular life that I can’t imagine taking falls and stuff again. I’m not interested anyway.

Carelli did compete in the 2020 women’s Royal Rumble match as the “Santina” character. He said the character was supposed to be a one-time thing but he assumes Vince McMahon enjoyed it so much that it became a consistent character on TV.

I don’t know who exactly, probably Vince [McMahon’s idea]. So Vince was always — he found it funny, the odd gender roles. Santino’s trying to be the dominant male but Beth Phoenix was really more dominant and just the comedy of that so the idea was that was I gonna sneak into the women’s battle royal just to prove men are dominant, physically dominant over women or better athletes and it was supposed to be one night only, just at WrestleMania and then Vince found it so funny that it ended up lasting for months.

** WrestleZone’s Bill Pritchard spoke to Jazz for an exclusive interview. She spoke to the site about her on-screen partnership with Jordynne Grace in IMPACT Wrestling. Jazz feels that if this is the way her career will conclude, she’s happy doing it alongside Grace.

I love her to death, I really do. I have so much respect for her, and always did, but now even more. If this is going to be the way that I end my career, I tell you what, there’s no other person that I’d rather tag with than Jordynne. And like you said, I’ve always been on my own. I’ve asked [companies], ‘Why won’t you let me tag with someone?’ That’s something I’ve never had the opportunity to do, but now IMPACT has given me that opportunity and I’m most definitely going to take advantage of it. Like I said, we’re chasing those tag team titles and I don’t believe anyone over there can stop us from getting there either.

** The latest guest on the Wrestling Perspective podcast was Ricky Starks. He looked backed on his time with the National Wrestling Alliance and eventual departure. Starks was not a fan of the NWA’s ‘Carnyland’ concept and openly voiced his displeasure about it.

The NWA contract came up and it was pretty much like they were gonna renew it but the pandemic just happened and they were gonna go start doing this thing called Carnyland, which to me, I thought was corny. I thought it was the worst idea imaginable and on top of that too, they cut my pay and I was already struggling to make ends meet. So, I said, ‘I’m done. I’m not gonna renew’ and they weren’t happy about it but it was what it was. So I took a chance in saying like, ‘Well, I’ll just keep busting my ass and make things — and figure it out. Everything just works itself out.’ I had been through enough in life with sleeping in my car and being homeless and not being able to eat that I stopped stressing about it.

Currently a member of the AEW roster and Team Taz, Starks feels that a championship is not something he needs. He added that he would make a title, opposed to a title making him.

I [got] this question a bit before and I’ve actually thought about it, and just so we’re clear, when I’m speaking, I don’t care to speak [as] if I have an ego or if people think I have an ego. I’m just speaking because we’re all just comfortable in this setting. I don’t think that I necessarily need a title and the reason I say that is because I don’t wanna have to pigeonhole myself to actually accomplishing that. If I went my whole career without winning a title, I think I would be okay because there’s other things that I can do that would make people forget about it, right? Entertaining, being a good wrestler, being a good talker, things like that. Would I love to have a title? I think that’d be cool, yeah for sure. But do I need one? Not necessarily. I think I would make a title if anything. I don’t think the title would make me.

Starks talked about working with the AEW production team. He shared that he and the production team like working with one another.

The producers do like working with me because I do know where each camera is almost at every time and I love the hard cam so it makes Tim [Walbert], the producer, Tim and [another TV producer], their jobs way easier and they don’t have to keep switching everywhere.

** Rewind, Recap, Relive hosted a joint-interview with Sabu and independent talent Jeremy Prophet. Sabu spoke highly of John Cena during the interview and their on-screen work together in the early 2000s.

That was pretty cool. He’s [John Cena] better than anybody gives him credit for, because before I wrestled him, a few guys like Kurt Angle went up [to me and said], ‘He had baseball bats for fists.’ He’s gonna be stiff with me. I said that’s all right but he wasn’t. He was really good, unselfish and he even called a few of my spots I forgot. He’s very cooperative.

One match that Sabu wishes he could have is a match with Brock Lesnar and he explained why he wants that match:

Yeah, my favorite match to do was with [Rob] Van Dam but the match I want to have probably won’t happen, against Brock Lesnar. Yeah, I want Brock. Oh yeah, I know we would [mesh well]. He’s the kind of wrestler I like to wrestle, guys that don’t do my stuff. He doesn’t do nothing I do. He does all power stuff and shoot stuff and I don’t do none of that and he don’t do no flying.

** Sam Roberts welcomed Charlotte Flair onto his ‘Notsam Wrestling’ podcast. Charlotte returned to WWE at the TLC pay-per-view in December of 2020 after being out of action since the summer. She feels that before her injury, she was doing some of the best work of her career.

And especially before I left for injury, I really felt I was doing some of my best work in my entire career. If you go back — I know the NXT storyline wasn’t a focus on Raw, but I was doing some of my best promos and some of my best work I’d ever done, in my opinion. I had a blast, had the Triple Threat with Rhea [Ripley] and Io [Shirai], so I’m like I want another impactful moment and [to] grow as a performer. I love that I’ve made it here but that’s not good enough for me.

Flair recently wrapped up a storyline involving Ric Flair and Lacey Evans. After the news came about that Lacey is pregnant, Charlotte had a segment backstage with her father that was praised by several current and former wrestlers. Charlotte stated that she is happy with the reaction to the promo.

It’s definitely not what I thought my 2021 was gonna be. But, I’ve gotten a lot of positive feedback about Monday’s promo segment and I love the fact that people are throwing around the word ‘shoot’ because that meant it touched home to some people so, yeah. Where it goes? I don’t know. Obviously there’s gonna be a different direction now, because my step-mom can’t wrestle me.

** Newshub caught up with Dakota Kai ahead of she and Raquel Gonzalez’s WWE Women’s Tag Title opportunity on 3/3. Kai shared that her real-life sister, Nyrene Crowley has been training in MMA for quite some time and she has a fight lined up.

When she moved back to New Zealand from Bali, I knew this would be the right move for her. She has been killing it in training and she has a fight lined up soon so that’s big for her. She also did an MMA seminar last week that had 15 girls attend. She is all about giving back to the sport and I love that about her. She puts everything into being a professional fighter, but she also dedicates herself to teaching others. She worked with troubled kids before she found MMA, so she has the nurturing side as well. Everything she is doing now is awesome and I am so proud of her and I miss her.

** Bianca Belair represented WWE at Topps’ WinterCon recently. She spoke about some of her goals in the sports-entertainment company and said she wants to be a part of every moment possible such as Hell In A Cell and Ladder matches.

One goal, the top goal is to go to WrestleMania and come out as SmackDown Women’s Champion. That’s the top goal right there, but it’s so wild that I’ve been on SmackDown less than a year and I’m already going to WrestleMania, on the Grandest Stage of Them All and possibly becoming a champion so, for me it’s all about moments. I wanna be a part of every big moment, I wanna be in every conversation when there’s a big moment. ‘Who can we put in this moment? Who can deliver?’ I wanna be in every conversation, I wanna be a part of every big moment. I wanna be in a Hell In A Cell match, I wanna be in a ladder match, I just wanna be in every moment that there is and I wanna be — I just wanna have those moments because that is what it’s about. Nobody can take those moments away from you and I’m creating my legacy here in WWE. It’s provided me with this platform. I just wanna do so much with it and be a part of every moment.

** Wrestling Inc. caught up with Chavo Guerrero to discuss the ‘Young Rock’ series on NBC. The show was filmed in Australia and Chavo talked about the quarantine process and tight restrictions that the government had in place. Guerrero said Dwyane Johnson was not present in Australia for the show taping but was very involved throughout the whole process virtually.

You have to have special permission from the Australian government and you have to be an essential worker to be able to travel over there. They submit me, and it was like, ‘We want you really bad, but it’s up to them, to the Australian government.’ And we were lucky enough to get that okay. We went in there. I quarantined for two weeks, and then we got to work on this project. It was great.

He’s [Dwayne Johnson] very, very involved. It’s not like he just put his name on it and then said, okay, I’ll see you in two months. No, he is super involved in Zoom meetings, and he’s got final say in everything. He was not in Australia though because of the fact that he can’t quarantine for two weeks. He’s got too much going on, and when you say quarantine, I was in a hotel room for two weeks. The police escorted me in. They close the door, and then two weeks later, they opened the door. That’s some serious stuff. He filmed all of his stuff in Atlanta. After we filmed the first episode or two, our executive producer [Nahnatchka Khan], and the creator also, she flew back to Atlanta and did his stuff with Dwyane. He was never actually on set but Zoom meetings and that stuff all the time. That’s kind of how everybody collaborated with him. Any question I had, I would just tell Brian [Gewirtz]. Brian would text him right away. We would find out [what] Rocky wants to do — I still call him Rocky — Rocky wants to do this. Rocky wants to do that. So I’m like, okay great. Let’s get it done.

** The Independent conducted an interview with TNT Champion Darby Allin. While discussing his in-ring style, Darby said he has no plans to change anything about it and added that there’s so much more he wants to do outside of wrestling.

I’m an adrenaline junkie. Life is very boring if I’m sitting on my couch playing in front of the TV. That style keeps me interested, keeps me on my toes, and it’s so fun. Getting thrown through the air or through a table? It gets me going, it’s a good time. I’m sticking with [it], man. Who knows how long I even want to be wrestling? There’s so much in this world that I want to do that I don’t want to pigeonhole myself into one thing. I love art, whether it be film-making, fashion, anything. I don’t want to be this 55-year-old guy wrestling in a high school gym, not because he wants to but because he has to. The wheels are spinning in my head on what’s after all of this, so it’s fun.

** NXT UK Tag Team Champions Pretty Deadly (Lewis Howley & Sam Stoker) spoke to talkSPORT for an interview. The duo were asked who would be their ideal opponents for the scheduled NXT UK TakeOver in Ireland this summer. Howley said he’d like to face The New Day.

Stoker: I think we want to be very progressive champions. We want to take ourselves and these championships to the next level. We want someone from across the pond. Someone from NXT, they can come over. The NXT tag team champions at the time, we’d like a face-off. We didn’t get to do World’s Collide this year so I think let’s get that going and prove we’re the better tag team and better champions.

Howley: But if we’re talking real dream matches, give us the New Day!
