Two wrestlers from the New Japan Pro-Wrestling roster tested positive for COVID-19, as revealed by the company on their official website. The names of those talents have not been disclosed. Those talents are experiencing mild symptoms and those who have been in contact with the individuals who tested positive are being heavily monitored.

At the May 4th Wrestling Dontaku show, several changes were made to the match card. It was discovered that two talents had high temperatures. The IWGP Junior Heavyweight Title match between El Desperado and YOH was pulled as a whole.

NJPW added the following note about their protocols going forward as they’ve learned about the positive COVID cases:

In addition to the aforementioned regular health monitoring, the requirement of masks during warmups and backstage as well as the provision of packaged food to minimize outside interaction are all enforced at New Japan Pro-Wrestling events. Moving forward, NJPW will work to further improve its COVID-19 countermeasures and do everything possible to ensure staff, wrestler and fan safety.

POST Wrestling has a audio review up on the site of nights one and two of Wrestling Dontaku. Night two was headlined by Will Ospreay versus Shingo Takagi for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship.
