Several weeks ago, NXT talents such as E.J. Nduka, Alexander Wolfe, Vanessa Borne and former WWE referee Drake Wuertz wrapped up with WWE after being let go and in Wolfe’s case, his contract with the company is expiring this month and WWE is not renewing it.

Kavita Devi’s name was included on the reported list of talent that were released and she clarified her status with the company during an interview.

The Hindustan Times has an excerpt from the interview on their site and Devi noted that the reports are not accurate. She stated that she has been back at home since January to take care of her husband who contracted COVID-19. She and WWE are working on a new arrangement that allows her to be home.

I’ve read some of those reports, and they aren’t accurate. I have been back at home in India since January. My husband contracted Covid earlier this year and I needed to be here with my family, I chose not to go back to America. Everyone at WWE has been incredibly supportive, I am filled with gratitude for everything they have done for me. I have also had an ACL injury for over a year and have been unable to perform in the ring but WWE still supported me through all of that. They understand that India is where I need to be. We are working together on a new arrangement that allows me to be home, but still part of the WWE Universe.

Devi stated that she has been working through an ACL injury for the past year. She did not compete at WWE’s Superstar Spectacle show in January. The show spotlighted multiple Indian talents who are a part of the company.

She signed with WWE in 2017 and her debut match was against Dakota Kai in the first-ever Mae Young Classic. Devi last wrestled in July of 2019.
