NXT Cruiserweight Champion KUSHIDA hosted an open challenge on the 6/1 episode of NXT. Answering that challenge was the debuting Carmelo Hayes, formerly known as Christian Casanova. Hayes fell in defeat to KUSHIDA but he had a hype package prior to the match and commentary spoke highly of his showing post-match.

Poppy is returning to NXT on 6/8. NXT Women’s Tag Team Champion Candice LeRae made comments about Poppy during the show and the two exchanged words on social media.

During the show, Ember Moon called out NXT Women’s Champion Raquel Gonzalez. As Moon was waiting for Raquel to come to the ring, she was ambushed from behind by Dakota Kai. Kai and Moon are scheduled to go one-on-one next week. Ember did issue a challenge to Raquel for TakeOver: In Your House.
MSK (Nash Carter & Wes Lee) successfully defended their NXT Tag Team Titles in the main event of tonight’s show. They defeated Raul Mendoza and Joaquin Wilde of Legado Del Fantasma. Santos Escobar interfered in the match but the odds were evened when North American Champion Bronson Reed took him out.
