The pre-sale for “The First Dance” in Chicago took place on Friday with AEW having another major success with more than 10,000 tickets sold before the general on-sale date.
It was reported by WrestleTix and Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer and confirmed by POST Wrestling that the company sold over 10,000 tickets for the August 20th edition of AEW Rampage titled “The First Dance”.
The public on-sale is this Monday at 11 a.m. ET and we were told that there were tickets held back in all the price categories for Monday.
The company made the announcement this past Wednesday that the event would occur at The United Center, one of the largest venues AEW has ever run, and making it their fourth event in the market over the course of sixteen days.
On Wednesday’s show, Darby Allin stated he would be in Chicago and added that many people think they are the greatest, but they need to prove it in AEW “even if you think you’re the Best in the World”. The clear message fans took from that segment was that CM Punk is arriving on that show after Fightful Select’s report that Punk was in talks for an in-ring return with AEW as the leading candidate.
After “The First Dance”, AEW returns with three events at the NOW Arena in nearby Hoffman Estates with Dynamite on September 1st, a taping of Rampage on September 3rd, and the All Out pay-per-view on September 5th.
