John Cena and WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns opened the 8/13 episode of SmackDown in Tulsa, Oklahoma. They are set to go one-on-one for the Universal Title next week at SummerSlam. During their segment, Reigns brought up Cena’s past relationship with Nikki Bella. This led to Cena mentioning that Reigns has been protected his whole career by the WWE system and the likes of The Shield. Cena added that Reigns almost ruined Seth Rollins and he “drove Dean Ambrose out of WWE”.

Baron Corbin had a match with Kevin Owens on SmackDown. The two talents agreed that if Corbin lost, he could no longer beg other talents for money. After his loss, Corbin spotted Big E’s Money In The Bank briefcase and ran off with it.
To close SmackDown, Sasha Banks and SmackDown Women’s Champion Bianca Belair signed the contract to make their SummerSlam match official. Banks brought out Zelina Vega and Carmella to help her beat down Belair.
