WWE has confirmed that St. Louis, Missouri will host the Royal Rumble in January 2022.
The annual event will be staged on Saturday, January 29th at The Dome at America’s Center, which was the previous home of the St. Louis Rams. It has a listed capacity of over 67,000 for football and 40,000 for a half stadium set-up.
In the press release, the company confirmed that there would be a 30-man and 30-woman Royal Rumble for the fifth consecutive year and winners will earn championship matches at WrestleMania.
Tickets for the 2022 event go on sale this Friday at 11 a.m. ET.
It is the first time the Royal Rumble will take place on a Saturday night since the 1994 edition from Providence, Rhode Island.
By not running on Sunday that weekend, WWE will avoid competition that day from the AFC and NFC Championship games during the NFL playoffs.
St. Louis previously hosted the Rumble event in 2012 at the Scottrade Center, which was the year that Sheamus won the Royal Rumble.
The news of St. Louis as the leading candidate to host the event was first reported in August by Fightful.
