WWE expressed interest in Britt Baker while she was under contract to AEW.

While Adam Cole was making the media rounds to discuss his decision to join AEW and his time as a part of WWE NXT, he appeared on Renee Paquette’s Oral Sessions podcast. During the conversation, Cole told the story of WWE expressing interest in Britt Baker. Cole stated that representatives of the company inquired about her status and availability.

Baker further dove into that while speaking to Renee and Miesha Tate on their ‘Throwing Down’ show. Britt added that she was under contract when WWE told Adam Cole to let her know they were interested.

It’s no secret because he’s [Adam Cole] already said it by now so cat’s out of the bag, I’m not gonna get in trouble — that WWE was definitely poking the bear a little bit through him recently, when I was still signed with AEW. You know, ‘Let Britt know we’re really interested in her.’ Without teetering the lines of contract tampering, they definitely let me know they had interest in me but, wasn’t a mutual thing. I’m very happy at AEW and very content and thankful for all the opportunities I’ve had there and this is where I wanna stay.

Britt is the reigning AEW Women’s World Champion and is heading towards the five month mark as champion. Britt and Ruby Soho headlined AEW’s Arthur Ashe show and Britt touched on how special of a night that was for her. She also spoke highly of Soho who is someone Britt looked up to.

Well I mean the venue itself, Arthur Ashe, any time you get to write a history book, that’s cool. That’s something you have forever and for us not only to wrestle in that arena but to be the main event, that was a lot of pressure but we welcome pressure because pressure makes diamonds and Ruby [Soho] is somebody that I’ve looked up to since like my first days as a professional wrestler on the independent scene. I’ve never had a match with her. I’ve been on like, I don’t know, probably 50 indie shows with her, never had a match, never in the same ring, nothing. So that was pretty surreal that-[that’s] our first time and she’s had so much influence on me coming up. The main event in New York City.

Former AEW Women’s World Champion Hikaru Shida will have her first match on Dynamite since May on 10/6. Shida will be seeking her 50th win in AEW as she takes on Serena Deeb.
