The former ‘Franky Monet’ looks back on her time in WWE and says she’d be open to working with AEW.
After a four-year run with IMPACT Wrestling, Taya Valkyrie departed the company for an opportunity with WWE. She signed with the sports-entertainment company in February 2021 and made her on-screen debut in April.
Valkyrie adopted the name ‘Franky Monet’ in WWE and wrestled in six matches throughout her time there. She was released this past November and is now a free agent. Valkyrie did a virtual signing with East Coast Autograph Auctions and shared that she wishes she had more opportunities to show what she could do in WWE.
It was great [being in NXT] but I wish that I had gotten more of an opportunity to show what I can do, I’ll be honest. I didn’t feel like I was given the opportunity I needed and I don’t even think I scratched the surface of what you all know, know La Wera Loca and Taya Valkyrie bring to the table but, with that said, I did gain a lot of knowledge, I learned a lot about myself and I am super excited to bring all of that and remind all of you about who I am starting next week.
When questioned about her future, she responded by saying that everything will play out in the best way possible. She’s figuring out what the best place is for her and what will benefit her family and make her happy.
Everything, I promise you, will play out and it will play out in the best way possible. I just know that I’m taking my time to figure out what the best place is for me, for my family, what makes me happy and it’s gonna be well worth the wait.
All Elite Wrestling was brought up and Taya said she would be open to joining AEW. She said she has a lot of friends on the talent roster including former tag team champions Rey Fenix and Penta El Zero M.
Of course I would go to AEW. I mean, they are doing something different, a lot of my peers and my best friends, my brothers [Rey] Fenix and Pentagon are over there so why not? So we’ll see what happens.
AEW’s Owen Hart Cup tournament is kicking off in several months and the finals for the men’s and women’s brackets are taking place at Double or Nothing. Taya hails from Victoria, Canada and would like to represent Canada in the tourney.
I mean, as a Canadian, I think that I should definitely be in the Owen tournament. I was trying to think what Canadian girls were a part of AEW and I’m gonna say Allie [The Bunny] is probably the only one, so I think that there needs to be a little bit of Canadian in that scenario so I would absolutely love to.
Throughout Taya’s time with IMPACT Wrestling, she held the Knockouts Championship on one occasion and her reign lasted from January of 2019 until January 2020.
She also able established a long-term friendship with Rosemary and she touched on their relationship and what Rosemary means to her personal life.
Rosemary and I are very good friends. I adore her. I think she is one of the most creative, passionate, kind people. Extremely loyal, loves this business, just wants to make magic with the fans and create something different and a different experience and a moment for everybody that’s watching so, I look up to her so much as a person and I am so blessed to have her in my life.
Several weeks after Valkyrie was let go from WWE, John Morrison, her significant other, was let go from the company as well. Morrison had made his return to WWE in early 2020.
