The news has circulated that Vicki Askew, the mother of WWE chairman Vince McMahon, died last week at the age of 101.
Her obituary was posted and noted that Askew passed away on January 20th of natural causes and is survived by one of her two sons (Vince), four grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren.
In the obit, it states she was born on July 11, 1920, in Florence, South Carolina, and grew up in East Sanford, North Carolina.
She was married to Vince McMahon Sr. from 1939 to 1946 where the couple had two sons, Roderick and Vince. In a sad coincidence, Vickie died exactly one year after Roderick passed away.
Vicki’s second husband was Harold Askew, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, who died in 2010.
Vicki was an avid tennis player and was responsible for the construction of the Ebensburg Tennis Center in Pennsylvania, which was covered by Ryan Nation in a story on SLAM Wrestling in 2007.
Vicki was driving 22 miles outside of the city to play tennis which led to her husband reaching out to Vince McMahon for support on building a tennis center in their home city. The McMahon Family Foundation contributed $2.5 million to the project that opened in 2007 and provided Vicki with a lifetime membership.
