New Japan Cup 2022: Three more advance in Fukushima

The New Japan Cup continued Sunday with three matches from the opening round including Will Ospreay in action.

The New Japan Cup continued Sunday with three matches from the opening round including Will Ospreay in action.

The card was originally set to feature Kota Ibushi taking on Great O-Khan in the main event. Ibushi was announced for the tournament but withdrew as he is not physically ready to return yet. He has been out of action since suffering a shoulder injury last October in the finals of the G-1 Climax.

The card is Fukushima saw Will Ospreay pin BUSHI after hitting the Hidden Blade and will meet El Phantasmo on March 12th in the second round.

Zack Sabre Jr. submitted Ryohei Oiwa in their tournament match and sets up ZSJ meeting DOUKI on March 12th.

Aaron Henare was victorious against Yuto Nakashima and will face SANADA in the next round of the New Japan Cup.

The remaining first-round matches take place Monday at Ota Ward Gymnasium with Shingo Takagi vs. Tomohiro Ishii, Hiromu Takahashi vs. SHO, EVIL vs. Ryusuke Taguchi, and Jado vs. Chase Owens.
