With competition from cable news coverage, the NBA, and South Park, AEW Dynamite managed to finish first among cable originals on Wednesday.

The post-Revolution edition of Dynamite averaged 945,000 viewers and approximately 516,000 (0.40) in the 18-49 demographic, per Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics and Showbuzz Daily.

While the show fell two percent in overall viewers from the week prior, it grew twelve percent in the 18-49 demo along with sizable gains with its female viewership.

Females 18-49 jumped thirty percent this week with women 35-49 growing by twenty percent.

Dynamite topped the NBA game between the Phoenix Suns and Miami Heat, which averaged 1,117,000 viewers and 0.38 in 18-49 for second place on cable. AEW beat the NBA game in 18-49, females 12-34, and adults 25-54. They also beat the late game between Portland and Utah that averaged 760,000 and 0.28 respectively.

Of the top ten cable programs, five were news programs.

In 18-34, Dynamite dropped by one percent and was fourth for the night on cable behind both NBA games and South Park in the category.

The loss of overall viewers is a function of Dynamite’s 50+ audience decreasing to one of its lowest figures in recent memory.

Prior to this week’s show, Dynamite averaged 0.39 in 50+ over nine episodes on TBS this year, this week’s rating in the demo was 0.33.

It was a packed edition of Dynamite following the Revolution pay-per-view and included three championship matches, the debut of Jeff Hardy, a promo from William Regal, and the first time Bryan Danielson & Jon Moxley teamed together.

In Canada, the show averaged approximately 129,000 viewers on TSN 2. It did not finish among the top ten sports broadcasts and we do not have a number for the 25-54 demo.
