Jeff Cobb open to defending IWGP Tag Team Titles against FTR

IWGP Tag Team Champion Jeff Cobb says he and Great-O-Khan are game to have a match with FTR

Jeff Cobb throws out the challenge.

Last week at NJPW Hyper Battle, United Empire’s Jeff Cobb and Great-O-Khan defeated YOSHI-HASHI and Hirooki Goto to become the new IWGP Tag Team Champions. This accolade was Jeff’s second title win in New Japan and it was O-Khan’s first.

The duo are currently in the U.S. for an upcoming New Japan event and they sat down alongside fellow United Empire members TJP and Aaron Henare for a virtual signing. Cobb was asked about the idea of facing ROH and AAA World Tag Team Champions FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler).

Cobb said he respects both Dax and Cash as wrestlers and while they are dual champions, they do not have the IWGP Tag belts. Cobb said he would not mind having the ROH Tag Titles as well.

As a tag team, I respect — I respect them [FTR] as wrestlers. They put on great matches, they don’t do anything too flashy, they get down to the point which is what? Wrestling, so props them. I saw that they won the Ring of Honor Tag Team Championships and then they also have… AAA Champions? I don’t even know… okay, I don’t care but what they don’t have is the IWGP Tag Team Championships. So listen, if they want a shot, I mean if the powers that be are willing to have them lose to us, that’s totally fine because that’s what gonna happen so, but I mean, I think it would be a great match. Like I said, stylistically, I respect everything that they do, but I wouldn’t mind having the Ring of Honor Tag Team Championships alongside this right here. Yeah, I’m down, I’m game.

Next up for United Empire is the Windy City Riot show on 4/16 as Cobb, TJP, Henare, O-Khan, Kyle Fletcher and Mark Davis take on Bullet Club (Scott Norton, Doc Gallows, Karl Anderson, Chris Bey, Hikuleo & El Phantasmo)
