New tag champions to be crowned on the 16th.

Pro Wrestling NOAH is hosting their ‘Destination’ event on July 16th from Nippon Budokan. A new set of GHC Tag Team Champions are going to be determined at the show as a result of the titles being vacated.

Michael Elgin and Masa Kitamiya had been reigning as tag champions since May of this year. Elgin is unable to make the 7/16 show, so Kitamiya is going to team with Yoshiki Inamura to take on Hideki Suzuki and Timothy Thatcher for the vacant belts.

NOAH issued the following note on the matter:

Michael Elgin, who was scheduled to participate on the July 16th Nippon Budokan show, will be absent from the event. As a result, a part of the match card will be changed.

The GHC Tag Team Titles will be vacated and either Masa Kitamiya and Yoshiki Inamura or Hideki Suzuki and Timothy Thatcher will be the new champions.

In accordance with this change in the match card, Kazushi Sakuraba will still participate on the show.

We apologize for any inconvenience and concern this may cause to our fans and other concerned parties, and ask for your understanding.

As of this writing, no specific reason has been cited as to why Elgin is not appearing at ‘Destination’.
