NXT Heatwave notes: Mandy Rose retains, Cora Jade def. Roxanne, NXT UK Tag Titles, Paul Heyman

Mandy Rose's reign continues, Cora Jade bests Roxanne Perez, Gallus getting NXT UK Title shot, Paul Heyman does intro and Carmelo retains

The reign of Mandy Rose as NXT Women’s Champion continued at Heatwave. She defeated Zoey Stark and the finish of their match saw Rose use Starks’ own knee brace to deliver a running knee strike and secure the win.

After Gallus’ (Joe Coffey, Mark Coffey & Wolfgang) ambush of Diamond Mine (Julius Creed, Roderick Strong, Brutus Creed & Damon Kemp), they got into an altercation with Josh Briggs, Brooks Jensen and Fallon Henley. This led to Gallus challenging Jenson and Briggs for the NXT UK Tag Team Championships and the match was made official for August 23rd.

The grudge match between Roxanne Perez and Cora Jade took place and Jade got the win. Perez had the chance to use a steel pipe on Jade, but she tossed it to the side and Jade capitalized by DDT’ing Perez onto the object to secure the victory.

Paul Heyman did the voiceover for the Heatwave intro:

Scheduled for the 8/23 show is a Lights Out match between Tiffany Stratton and Wendy Choo. In addition to that, Grayson Waller is going to debut his ‘Waller Effect’ talk show segment and invited Apollo Crews to be his first guest.

With the help of Trick Williams, Carmelo Hayes successfully defended the North American Championship against Giovanni Vinci.

A vignette aired during Heatwave to promote the arrival of ‘The Super Diva’ Quincy Elliot to NXT 2.0. Elliot is featured on the Level Up program.

Closing out Heatwave was a stand-off between NXT Champion Bron Breakker and NXT UK Champion Tyler Bate.
