Bret Hart comments on Ric Flair’s Last Match and FTR.
At the end of July 2022, 73 -year-old Ric Flair wrestled in his first sanctioned match since 2011. He tagged with Andrade El Idolo and scored a win over Jeff Jarrett and Jay Lethal.
Among those in the front row for the match were Ric Flair’s family and former colleagues such as Mick Foley, The Undertaker and Bret Hart. Bret looked back on Ric’s ‘Last Match’ as he was doing a virtual signing for K & S WrestleFest. He thinks Flair did the best he could and gave him props for going through with it.
I thought he went in there and I thought he did the best he could [Bret said about Ric Flair’s Last Match]. You know, he’s probably the reason why 73 year old guys shouldn’t wrestle but, you know, took some guts to do it so I give him kudos for that and I appreciate how hard that was and I don’t know that I would have had the guts to do the same thing.
Remaining on the topic of retirement matches, Ricky ‘The Dragon’ Steamboat is having his final match in November and it is being hosted by Big Time Wrestling. Steamboat will be tagging with FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler) in the match.
Bret spoke highly of Wheeler and Harwood and feels they’re the best tag team right now. He added that WWE dropped the ball with them and feels the company does not understand what tag team wrestling is anymore.
I think they’re the best tag team right now [FTR]. Surprised that WWF let them go in the first place. They missed the boat. They don’t understand what tag team wrestling is anymore.
Bret was present at WWE’s Clash at the Castle event in Cardiff, Wales. He publicly heaped praise onto the match between Sheamus and Intercontinental Champion GUNTHER.
