Suzuki-gun is disbanding at the end of this year.
At the World Tag/Super Junior Tag League finals show, following Suzuki-gun’s victory, Minoru Suzuki had the ring to himself and made the announcement that Suzuki-gun will disband at the end of 2022.
The stable will have their last match together on December 23rd which will be an all Suzuki-gun match.
Before that, Taichi is going to challenge Shingo Takagi for the KOPW 2022 Trophy. The match is taking place at TAKATaichiMania on 12/19. Taichi told Tokyo Sports he does not want to go into the final Suzuki-gun match empty-handed. He also stated that he wants to live up to the expectations from Minoru that the members will be fine post-stable.
As for why I wanted to challenge him [Shingo Takagi] so badly, I had it in my mind that the Suzuki Army was going to disband. I had been approached about it from that stage, and I thought about it a lot… I thought about it a lot… I also felt that I couldn’t disband the stable empty-handed. We didn’t leave anything behind this year. If we break up like this, I won’t know where to go on a new journey.
I don’t want them to think that I’m glad we broke up, but I do want to live up to their feelings [that I’ll do well after this].
After the Road to Tokyo Dome shows conclude, NJPW will be heading towards Wrestle Kingdom 17 and the full match card can be viewed here.
