Independent wrestler and promoter Jaysin Strife has died at the age of 37.
Strife (Nathan Blogett) had been ill for some time and shared updates throughout the year, passing away on Thursday with his brother Jason announcing the news:
it’s with a very heavy heart I make the announcement that at 9:55 tonight Nate lost what has been a very hard fought battle that’s had many ups and downs. after what we thought was his final breath 2 days ago, he managed to give us 2 more days of his presence. he held strong thru our parents anniversary and although tomorrow will be my first birthday in 37 yrs without my brother, I KNOW he’ll be there in spirit. I will update everyone with the memorial service info once we have it all figured out. thank you for all you’ve done and all the love shown to our family.
just remember: every time a ring bell rings, STRIFE gets his wings!
Blogett was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa, and was trained by Hype Gotti and Jayden Draigo before making his pro wrestling debut in the fall of 2003.
Strife wrestled mainly in the Midwest in Iowa, Kansas, and Indiana while also venturing to California. He made several appearances as an enhancement talent on the national stage.
In July 2018, he appeared on an episode of 205 Live in Omaha, where he lost to Akira Tozawa.
Last year, he appeared on AEW Dark in Minneapolis and lost to Powerhouse Hobbs.
Strife also wrestled as The Yellow Dog in CHIKARA.
In 2010, he launched Magnum Wrestling in Omaha and ran shows as recently as February.
You had a profound impact on me in the short amount of time we knew each other. I know there is a lesson in all of this but right now I just want to send all my love to his friends and family. Nothing in life is guaranteed. Love your people and tell them you love them. pic.twitter.com/JRIuxb4FAP
