Khan says Jay Briscoe will be honored.
The January 24th edition of AEW Dynamite on TBS is going to feature the AEW in-ring debut of ROH World Tag Team Champion Mark Briscoe.
Mark is set to take on Jay Lethal in singles competition and their match is going to be in celebration of the late Jay Briscoe’s life. Jay passed away last week in a car accident.
Ahead of Dynamite, Tony Khan guest appeared on the Battleground Podcast and shared that he ‘fought hard’ to make Briscoe versus Lethal official. He added that it’ll be a great match to honor a great man.
Yeah, it’s gonna be a great match to honor a great man. These two men requested this match. Wednesday would be the 39th birthday of the late, great Jay Briscoe and his longtime friend and rival Jay Lethal and his brother, Mark Briscoe, wanted to have this match to honor the legacy of Jay Briscoe and I fought hard to make it happen and I’m really excited about the match and I believe it’s gonna be a great one and I think it’s great they’re gonna be able to honor the legacy of somebody that everybody in pro wrestling has so much respect for, the great Jay Briscoe on his 39th birthday, this Wednesday night, Dynamite on TBS and with everything happening, this is gonna be something really great for everybody in the locker room who is rallying around the Briscoe family.
IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Kazuchika Okada threw the idea out there of a World Cup type of tournament in pro wrestling. He shared the idea with Tokyo Sports and said he’d go to Tony Khan and Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque about it as well.
Tony reacted to that idea and said he’s open to working with anyone.
Well I’ve got experience working with different promotions and you know, promoting angles and matches and storylines across different companies and it can be challenging but we came together with New Japan Pro-Wrestling to put on I think the best pay-per-view of last year, Forbidden Door and there are challenges in putting on an event like that and getting the matches set but, certainly something I would be open to (pro wrestling World Cup). I’m open to working with anybody in pro wrestling. So, you never know.
