AEW Dynamite experiences a small decrease, Power Slap ranks outside top fifty on cable

AEW Dynamite dipped to fifth among cable originals on Wednesday and the lowest figures in over a month.

The February 8th edition of the show from El Paso averaged 899,000 viewers and approximately 391,000 (0.30) in the 18-49 demographic, per Wrestlenomics and Showbuzz Daily.

The show ranked fifth among cable originals behind two NBA games, MTV’s The Challenge, and SportsCenter following the late game.

Dynamite aired head-to-head with the Philadelphia 76ers vs. Boston Celtics averaging 1,678,000 viewers and 0.56 in the demo and was a much stronger game than last week’s game in the same slot which averaged 1,036,000 and 0.34. Dynamite also aired against MTV’s The Challenge did 669,000 viewers and 0.32, although Dynamite was ahead in males 18-49.

Dynamite was nearly identical to last week’s viewership of 901,000 while the 18-49 audience was down slightly by 2.5 percent. Despite the minor drop, it was its lowest number since January 4th last month.

In the 18-49 demo, female viewership was up by 10 percent this week while male viewership declined by the same percentage.

In the 18-34 demo, the show improved by 8 percent this week and was its highest number in that demo since January 11th for the episode at the Kia Forum in Inglewood.

Adults 35-49 experienced a 9 percent decrease while adults 50+ improved from 0.39 to 0.40 week over week.

The Canadian figures saw Dynamite average 113,900 viewers, which was up 29 percent from last week while the 25-54 demographic averaged 57,200 on TSN 2, which was up by 30 percent from last week. Dynamite ranked third among sports programming on Wednesday night in Canada behind the NHL and the NBA game between the Toronto Raptors and San Antonio Spurs.

In its fourth week, Dana White’s Power Slap averaged 275,000 viewers and 0.08 in the 18-49 demo, ranking #68 among cable originals. At the mid-way point of the season, the series is averaging 317,000 viewers and 0.10 in the demo. Since it didn’t rank among the top fifty cable programs on Wednesday, we don’t have more detailed information regarding the demographics.
