Becky Lynch, Ronda Rousey, Royal Rumble and more discussed by Nia Jax.
This past January, Nia Jax made her return to WWE as the 30th entrant in the women’s Royal Rumble match. Jax has not appeared for the company since.
She was the focus of a virtual signing hosted by East Coast Autograph Auctions and among the topics Jax touched on was the 2020 women’s Money in the Bank match she was a part of.
The men’s and women’s Money in the Bank matches were filmed at WWE’s corporate headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut. Jax shared that filming was almost shut down by the Governor of Connecticut and police were ‘knocking on the door’.
This was from the COVID Money in the Bank. Oh! That was a fun one, the theatrical Money in the Bank that we had. That was so much fun, where we almost got shut down by the Governor of Connecticut. They were knocking at the door, the police were knocking at the door, and somehow, we were able to still shoot it, and get it done!
In part two of the signing, Jax spoke about her return to WWE in January and was wondering what the reaction would be when she showed up. She thought about the possibility of it being silent when she came out.
Jax was asked about her music playing before the Rumble countdown buzzer hit zero and stated that she knows why that happened but can’t share why. She added that she’ll just say someone was happy she was back.
I’m glad it was a surprise for everybody (2023 Royal Rumble appearance). I was actually really happy that people remembered me. I was nervous right before I walked out like, what if nobody remembers me? And I walked out in the Rumble and it’s dead air.
No comment (she said when asked why her music played before the timer hit zero). I can’t say. I know, but I can’t say. But let’s just say somebody was super excited for me to be back and prematurely hit my music. But they were really happy I was back. Let’s say that. But that’s all I’m gonna say (she smiled). They (some fans) were hoping it was more of a permanent thing… I almost cried myself. I was nervous, a nervous wreck.
The name of current WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion Becky Lynch came up when Nia was asked to sign an action figure with the personalization, ‘To Becky, I made you The Man’. Jax stated that it’ll give Lynch another reason to hate her but she does not care. Nia said Becky has a ‘problem’.
Oh, she (Becky Lynch) would love to see this, trust me (Jax said about an autograph request that reads, ‘Becky, I made you The Man’). Trust me, and I’m gonna show everybody that this is what they wanted for the personalization so I’m not getting any hiz-eat for that.
I made you, underscore, underscore, The Man. Alrighty, I did it… That’s fine (they can give it to Becky if they choose to). Whatever, give her more reasons to hate me. Anyways, I don’t care. The girl’s got a problem and I don’t give a sh*t… Bless her heart.
In 2018 and 2019, Jax worked televised and house show matches with Ronda Rousey. She looked back on those bouts and thinks they were good and she had fun working with Ronda.
I mean, we had some good matches. I had fun with Ronda (Rousey). She was fun to wrestle.
In November 2021, Jax was one of 26 talents released from WWE that month. Prior to the Rumble return, the last time she wrestled was on a September 2021 edition of Monday Night Raw.
