They felt Ricochet had the better chance of succeeding on his own.

The beginning stages of The Hurt Business kicked off with Bobby Lashley and MVP. Shelton Benjamin was then added to the group and in September 2020, Cedric Alexander joined

It has been made public that both Apollo Crews and Ricochet were considered for spots in The Hurt Business. MVP addressed that during his chat with Inside The Ropes

He opened up about the thought process when it came to just adding Cedric and it had to do with Apollo being established on his own and when it came down to Ricochet and Cedric, it was a matter of who would find success on their own and who would do better from their association with The Hurt Business.

At that point, we felt that, you know, Apollo (Crews) is being established on his own and we came down to Ricochet and Cedric (Alexander for a spot in The Hurt Business) and we felt that Ricochet stood a better chance of being successful on his own, whereas Cedric would do better from his association with us and so far, I think I was pretty accurate in that assessment.

This past February, MVP said he was doing his best to get The Hurt Business back together. One of the talents he would like to work with is current NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes.
