The first-ever ‘Takagi Triad’ match will decide the KOPW Championship this weekend.

New Japan will hold its Wrestling Satsuma no Kuni event this Saturday 4/29 with Shingo Takagi defending the KOPW Championship against Taichi.

After deferring to the champion to choose a match type, Takagi selected his own version of a Triad Match – where the winner is the one to achieve three of the five ways to win.

The rules of the match state a fall can be determined by pinfall, submission, stoppage, knockout, or count-out with the first one to achieve three of those outcomes will be declared the winner and champion.

Takagi is coming off an ‘Ultimate Triad’ match with Aaron Henare where the winner was the first one to achieve a pinfall, submission, and knockout. It was a heavily praised match and among the best of the year while a career-making match for Henare.

New Japan will hold Road to Wrestling Dontaku events this week on Tuesday in Kochi, Wednesday in Ehime, and Thursday in Hiroshima before Wrestling Satsuma no Kuni this Saturday.
