A one-night tournament to crown the first-ever champion.
New Japan Pro-Wrestling pushed out the announcement that come Resurgence in Long Beach, California on May 21st, the first-ever NJPW STRONG Women’s Champion will be crowned.
There is going to be a one-night tournament featuring Stephanie Vaquer, Momo Kohgo, Willow Nightingale and former IWGP Women’s Champion Mercedes Moné.
In the first round, Vaquer takes on Moné and on the other side of the bracket, Kohgo meets Nightingale and the winners of those two bouts will clash in the finals.

In addition to this match, Will Ospreay is scheduled to take on Hiroshi Tanahashi to determine who moves on to Dominion to face Lance Archer in the IWGP U.S. Heavyweight Title tournament finals. Tanahashi is currently recovering from a broken rib.
