AEW Double or Nothing notes: MJF retains, Max Caster mentions Dominik Mysterio, mixed tag set for Dynamite

MJF’s reign as AEW World Champion continued as he retained in the Four Pillars four-way. MJF bested Darby Allin, Sammy Guevara and Jungle Boy. He scored the win by pinning Darby after a headlock takeover.

Answering House of Black’s open challenge for the World Trios Championships was Max Caster, Anthony Bowens and Billy Gunn. When The Acclaimed and Gunn were making their way to the ring, in Caster’s rap, he mentioned Buddy Matthews being ‘cucked’ by Dominik Mysterio who is paired on-screen with Matthews’ real-life significant other, Rhea Ripley. Caster questioned how House of Black (Malakai Black, Brody King, Buddy Matthews & Julia Hart) have their name with no Black people in the group. House of Black retained their titles.

In the Unsanctioned match between Chris Jericho and Adam Cole, Cole got the victory via referee stoppage. There was a table spot with Sabu early in the bout. Post-match, a backstage video aired with Jericho and Saraya calling out Cole and Britt Baker for a mixed tag on the 5/31 Dynamite which is now official. Jericho went on to throw a fireball in the face of independent talent Eric Kubiak, who played the role of backstage personnel.

FTR (Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler) retained the AEW World Tag Team Championships over Jeff Jarrett and Jay Lethal. Jarrett put his hands on Mark Briscoe and Briscoe sent Jarrett right into a ‘Big Rig’. As the match was ongoing, Karen Jarrett hit Aubrey Edwards over the head with a guitar.

On The BUY-IN, Martha Hart appeared to promote the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament which kicks off this summer. Tony Khan joined Martha and Renée Paquette on stage.

The opening match of the main card was the 21-man Blackjack Battle Royal for the International Championship. Orange Cassidy retained by last eliminating Swerve Strickland.

Circling back around to The BUY-IN, HOOK and The Hardys (Matt & Jeff Hardy) scored a win over Ethan Page and The Gunns (Austin & Colten Gunn). Matt now ‘owns’ Ethan Page’s contract.
