KiLynn King dives into how the match got her head back in the game.

Trinity Fatu’s first match since her departure from WWE was against KiLynn King at an IMPACT Wrestling taping in late April. Fatu secured the win and is currently 4-0 in the company.

Knockouts World Tag Team Champion KiLynn King reflected on the bout on the newest edition of her partner Taylor Wilde’s ‘Wilde On’ podcast. She explained why she shed happy tears after the match and shared that she had been dealing with personal matters.

She felt she had been in and out of matches mentally and was not doing her best. Going into the match with Fatu, King felt it was going to be good.

To end it on a positive note, I think the one time I cried in a happy way for wrestling was just recently after my match with Trinity (Fatu). I’d been going through a lot of personal stuff and it was also kind of like, between the personal stuff, I wasn’t giving my all to some of my wrestling matches. I felt like I was half in, half out. I felt like I was kind of out of my body a little bit and so, a lot of the matches that I had, I just felt like I wasn’t there. I did it, oh, another match and I hate that because that’s not fair to my opponent, it’s not fair to the people that are wanting me to be there. But it’s just sometimes it can’t be helped. If you’re just there to do the job, emotionally, you’re just like…

When I got told that I was in that match, I knew how important it was. So, I kind of forced my soul to come back in my body that day and I was like, we need to get our sh*t together. This is important, this is a big deal. They trust you to have this match with her. Don’t mess this up. But there was just this fear in my body all day like, am I gonna step up? Am I gonna be okay for her? And then the moment I walked backstage and I saw everybody’s faces, I knew — well even before that, the moment we started, I felt that energy and I was like, this is gonna be a good one and then I got backstage and then I saw Lance’s face and Scott’s face and I was just like, I did what I was supposed to do and I still can do this. No matter what life is throwing at me, I can handle it.

I still don’t think I’m 100 percent okay but it was definitely something that reminded me that no matter how hard it gets, my passion for this is strong enough that it’s not gonna affect me and I think sometimes we’re worried that life is gonna be stronger than the passion and it’s just gonna affect us to the point where we can’t do it anymore and so that was a nice moment to just be like, I don’t care what you thought. This is what I’m meant to do.

I’ve been blessed with a lot of big stake matches, but I think that-that was a big deal because people have been waiting for a really long time to see where Trinity was gonna go, what she was gonna do, how she was gonna fare on her first match back. I never led it on-on that day because I was like professional. But in my head, I’m like, so, just the notion that it wasn’t just me that felt good about it. I walked backstage and I could see their faces like, okay.

The next pay-per-view on the docket for IMPACT is Slammiversary and it is there that Trinity Fatu is taking on Deonna Purrazzo for the Knockouts World Championship.
