NJPW has announced that three of its brightest young stars are to be officially named the “Reiwa Three Musketeers.”
Shota Umino, Ren Narita and Yota Tsuji have been given the title “in recognition of their quick ascension in the ranks of New Japan Pro Wrestling, and clear desire to lead a new generation.”
The “Three Musketeers” name has a storied history harking back to 1988.
The original “Three Musketeers of Fighting Spirit” were Masahiro Chono, Shinya Hashimoto and Keiji Muto.
Then, in 2004, the “New Three Musketeers” were formed by the trio of Hiroshi Tanahashi, Shinsuke Nakamura and Katsuyori Shibata.
Reflecting the current Reiwa period in Japan under its current emperor, Tsuji, Umino and Narita will now be considered the Reiwa Three Musketeers. With hopes high for all three, they look forward to your continued support.
