Caprice Coleman dives into how he views his career in pro wrestling.

The duo of Caprice Coleman and Ian Riccaboni have been paired together for years as the ROH commentary team. Under Tony Khan’s ownership of Ring of Honor, they remain on the call for the weekly program on HonorClub and for pay-per-views.

Caprice took a look into his career as a talent and commentator during a chat with Armbars & Sidebars. He feels he’s a modern day Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler in the sense of continuing to wrestle on the independents while being on commentary on television and being respected in those two areas.

He touched on the longevity that commentary has added to his career. Coleman stated that for most of his in-ring run, he’s been in the mid-card but when it comes to commentary, himself and Ian are in those conversations for the greatest of all time.

The blessing now is I’m able to work with a lot of these up and coming stars and I’m kind of like old school, new class so I’m able to see a lot of these new guys that the world hasn’t seen yet and actually feel ‘em and I feel now, the way it’s worked out is that I am a modern day Jerry Lawler, where it’s like I do commentary on TV and I wrestle on the indies, and I’m respected in all those areas and all and so, I really have nothing to complain about. It’s just I hear mostly fans, they’re like, oh, you’re just a commentator now and I’m like, bruh, you have no idea the importance of that job and the longevity that it’s given my career and the blessing behind it for me is the fact that when I was a wrestler and even wrestling now, the best there ever on big time wrestling was mid-card, you know what I mean? I’m not a person that’s gonna try to blow smoke up anything or say I should’ve did (this and that). It’s like the biggest I ever was-was like number one contender for Television Title type stuff, you know what I mean? Mid-card type stuff but as commentary, I’m in the talks of the greatest commentators of all time. I’m in those conversations, (Ian) Riccaboni and I, you know, and so it’s like we have plans for our life but God knows what he wants to do so I was never like, oh, best wrestlers in the world. I was never in that conversation. But when they talk about commentators in the world, I’m in that conversation. So I know I’m where I’m supposed to be at, and I’m a good wrestler too.

Next up on the docket for Ring of Honor is their weekly TV shows on the lead up to the Death Before Dishonor pay-per-view on July 21st. There have not been announcements made for the pay-per-view as of this writing.
